Growing up in a small town in Canada, church was a big part of my childhood. I remember our church being filled with beautiful banners made by the ladies of the United Church of Canada women’s group. As a kid, I always wanted to be involved in the making of those banners, but that never happened. What did happen, was I somehow, and I honestly don’t remember how, instead got involved in making a quilt. I don’t know whether it was our youth group, or CGIT or something else. What I do remember is how much fun I had!
We designed our squares, painted them with fabric paints and someone assembled them into a quilt. My memory is kinda hazy about a lot of this, but I remember the quilt (pretty sure it was a baby quilt for our CGIT leader, now that I think about it), I remember walking into one of the church classrooms and it being assembled and attached to a big wooden frame. We hand quilted it (I am sure it was terrible, we were young and had no skills, lol), but I loved it.
Now, fast forward a (more than a) few years and the passion to quilt struck like a lightening bolt out of nowhere about a year & a half ago, and I have been running with it, trying to do so much at once, but having so much fun at the same time!
This blog is going to be about my quilting journey, but some of it is going to be pretty delayed as quite a few of the projects I am working on are secret!
Anyway, welcome to my quilting home, I’ll try to post often, but work and quilting might get in the way, lol. Hope you enjoy your time here.
